AI Usage Policy

This page states plainly how automated and AI tools are used in producing this site, and where they are not.

Where AI is used

  • Drafting assistance and editing. AI tools may be used to draft an outline, tighten prose, or check grammar. A named human editor reviews every article before it publishes.
  • Research assistance. AI may help locate a primary source. It is never the source itself – the underlying document is always read and linked.
  • Production tasks. Metadata, internal linking and site maintenance are partly automated.

Where AI is not used

  • No figure, rate, limit or threshold is taken from an AI tool. Every number comes from a primary source and links to it.
  • No article publishes without human review.
  • No fabricated quotes, invented studies, or invented author credentials.

Our archive

This publication launched in 2024 and part of its early archive was produced with heavy AI assistance and without the sourcing standard described above. We are working through that archive: verifying figures against primary sources, adding citations, and rewriting or removing what does not meet the standard. Articles that have been through that process carry an updated modified date.

We would rather tell you this than quietly leave it in place.

Guest contributions

Unedited AI output is not accepted from contributors. Submissions are reviewed and returned if unsourced or machine-generated – see our editorial process.
