Corrections Policy

We publish figures people use to make decisions about their own money. When we get something wrong, we say so.

How to report an error

Email [email protected] with Correction in the subject line. Include the article URL and, where possible, the primary source showing the correct figure. We read every one.

What happens next

  • Factual error. We verify against the primary source, correct the article, and add a dated correction note at the foot of the piece explaining what changed.
  • Outdated figure. Rates, limits and thresholds change. We update the figure and refresh the modified date.
  • Unclear wording. We may rewrite for clarity without a correction note, provided no fact changes.
  • Typographical error. Fixed silently.

We aim to respond within three business days and to correct verified factual errors within five.

What we do not do

We do not remove an article because its conclusion is unwelcome, and we do not quietly delete an error to make it disappear. A correction is recorded on the article itself.

Disputes

If you believe an article is materially unfair rather than factually wrong, write to the same address setting out why. We will tell you what we decide and why.
