Sponsored Content and Guest Post Policy

Last updated 25 August 2026.

We accept guest contributions and paid placements. This page sets out the terms, so that both readers and prospective contributors know exactly where the line sits.

What gets labelled

Any article that has been paid for, in money or in kind, carries a clear label at the top of the page identifying it as sponsored or as a paid contribution, together with the name of the company behind it. The label is not in the footer and not in small grey text. If you cannot tell from the top of an article whether someone paid for it, we have failed.

Unpaid guest contributions are labelled with the contributor’s name and their relationship to any company or product they discuss.

What sponsorship does not buy

Sponsorship buys placement. It does not buy editorial endorsement, and it does not buy protection. A sponsored article does not become our recommendation, and paying for one placement gives no influence over anything else on the site — including a future article that is critical of the sponsor.

We reserve final editorial control over every word we publish, including sponsored words. We will edit for accuracy, clarity and compliance with this policy, and we will decline copy we cannot stand behind. We do not publish anything that makes a claim we cannot check.

Standards every contribution must meet

The bar is the same as for our own work, and it is set out in the Editorial Process. In short:

  • Written for a reader, not for a search engine. If the point of the piece is the link, it will be declined.
  • Claims about rates, costs, tax treatment or eligibility must be attributable to a primary source, and we will check them.
  • No personalised financial advice, and no language implying the author holds a licence they do not hold.
  • Original. Not published elsewhere, not spun from another article, not machine-generated and passed off as first-hand experience.
  • Any commercial interest in a product mentioned must be declared to us up front. Concealing one is the fastest way to have a piece pulled after publication.

What we refuse outright

Payday and high-cost short-term lending, credit repair schemes promising to remove accurate credit file information, advance-fee loans, cryptocurrency speculation and trading signal services, binary options, income-claim and “get rich” programmes, and anything promising guaranteed returns. We also refuse placements aimed at people in financial distress that would leave them worse off.

We do not sell links inserted into existing articles, and we do not accept “link exchange” arrangements.

Links in contributed articles

Contributors may link to their own site where it is genuinely useful to a reader. Links in paid placements carry the markup that identifies them as paid. We do not remove that markup for a fee, and any request to do so ends the conversation.

Corrections to sponsored pieces

Sponsored articles are subject to the same Corrections Policy as everything else. If a sponsored piece contains an error, we correct it publicly, whether or not the sponsor would prefer we did not.

How to enquire

Email [email protected] with Pitch in the subject line. Tell us what you want to say and why a reader would care. Please read this page and the Editorial Process before writing — it will save us both time.
