How to report
Email [email protected] with Abuse in the subject line. Include the URL of the page, enough detail to identify what you are reporting — a quote from the comment is ideal — and what the problem is. You do not need to use any particular form of words.
You can report anonymously. It helps if we can reach you for clarification, but we will act on an anonymous report if it stands up on its own.
What to report here
- Harassment, threats or targeted abuse of any person.
- Hate speech or content attacking people on the basis of who they are.
- Someone’s personal information posted without their consent.
- Impersonation of a real person or organisation.
- Spam, or comments placed purely to build links.
- Comments promoting a financial product without disclosing a connection to it.
- Anything that appears to be a scam aimed at readers — particularly the “recovery expert” and “trading mentor” solicitations that follow money articles around.
- Content that is unlawful in any other respect.

Copyright complaints have their own statutory process and belong on the DMCA Takedown Policy page. A factual error in an article is not abuse — that is a correction, and the Corrections Policy covers it. Requests to access or delete your own personal data are handled under the Privacy Policy.
What we do with a report
We aim to review abuse reports within three business days, and faster where someone’s safety or personal information is involved. Where a report is made out, we remove or edit the material and, where appropriate, block the account or address behind it. Repeat offenders are blocked permanently.
We will not always tell you the outcome, particularly where doing so would identify another person. We do keep a record of what was reported and what we did.
If you are the person being reported
Where we remove a comment or contribution and have a way to contact you, we will tell you what was removed and why. If you think we got it wrong, reply and say so. We do change our minds, and we would rather be argued with than be wrong quietly.
Emergencies
We are a small publication and we do not monitor this address around the clock. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services rather than waiting for us. If you believe a crime is being committed, report it to law enforcement; we will cooperate with a valid request.
